Gujarat HC Rejects PIL Against Criminally-indicted Ketan Desai: PBT Will Move Supreme Court

The division bench of Gujarat High Court presided by chief justice Mr. S. J. Mukhopadhaya dismissed PIL filed by the PBT challenging the illegal election of tainted ex-head of MCI, Dr. Ketan Desai to the Gujarat University Senate. The HC also imposed a cost of Rs. 10,000 because it felt that there was no “public interest” involved in this matter even without giving any opportunity for argument to the counsel represented PBT.  Ironically, the HC previously threatened that it would impose cost in “US dollars” if the application is frivolous only because PBT’s president, Dr. Kunal Saha, is an NRI even though the PIL was filed by the PBT. Other purely US-based organizations like the “Clinton Foundation” (headed by Bill Clinton) and “Gates Foundation” (headed by Bill Gates) also perform humanitarian work in India. Should these charitable organizations also be punished for moving Indian courts with issues involving interests for the Indian citizens? PBT will move the Supreme Court against this arbitrary judgment passed by the Gujarat HC and we feel confident the Apex Court will overturn this decision and stop the corrupt Dr. Desai, from regaining control over MCI to further ruin the Indian healthcare system.  Read the related news:  (Hindustan Times)  (Indian Express)  (Sify)
