Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, has failed to file any response affidavit to the special leave petition (SLP) by PBT president, Dr. Kunal Saha, when this matter was called by the Supreme Court register yesterday. This case stems after Banerjee appointed Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee, tainted doctor who was found guilty for causing death of Anuradha Saha against which Kunal Saha moved Calcutta High Court claiming that deliberate appointment of a negligent doctor to the highest medical post in the state was a mala fide act on part of Banerjee. While Calcutta High Court admitted the writ petition filed by Saha, it also directed to delete the name of Banerjee from the list of parties against which Saha moved the Supreme Court . The Apex Court issued notice against Banerjee on October 19, 2012 but even after giving several opportunities to Banerjee to file affidavit, she has refused to file any response. The matter will now be put before an appropriate bench in the Apex Court for final disposal.
