PBT celebrates its 10th Anniversary at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata. A large number of people including many victims of medical negligence joined the program. PBT president, Dr. Kunal Saha, was also present in this program. Many doctors and other dignitaries including judges and political personalities were also present on this occasion. A PBT delegation headed by Dr. Saha also met with the West Bengal Governor, Mr. M.K. Narayanan at Raj Bhavan and handed him a memorandum containing specific demands for the innocent victims of medical negligence including appropriate compensation for the recent fire victims at AMRI Hospital in Kolkata and a fast-track court for cases involving medical negligence (see the news below).
Dr. Saha was in India to testify in a historic CBI case for corruption in the Supreme Court. Dr. Saha (in association with the CBI) nabbed two Apex Court Registry employees in 2009 for taking bribes for listing of Anuradha Saha death case in the Apex Court. The Supreme Court held four top Kolkata doctors and AMRI Hospital in Kolkata guilty for medical negligence causing death of Anuradha in a historic judgment on August 7, 2009.
